Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, November 21, 2010: Afghanistan – Ever Ongoing
I arrived in Kabul early one morning and checked into the Gandamack Lodge. Prior to the fall of the Taliban in 2001 Osama bin Laden’s fourth wife is rumored to have lived on the property. Kabul was a short stop for me before flying to Kandahar, where I embedded with Charlie Company of the U.S. Army Task Force Raider. Charlie Company’s job was to patrol Kandahar City and its outskirts, the center of Taliban resistance to the United States and the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), the official name given to the international coalition.
